Cabbage and cauliflower are cold growing crops. This crop is cultivated in almost all the districts of Maharashtra. In Maharashtra, cabbage is cultivated on an area of about 7203 hectares. Cauliflower is cultivated on an area of about 7000 hectares. These crops are rich in minerals like Phosphorus, Potassium, Sulfur, Lime, Sodium, Iron and Vitamin A. Therefore, this vegetable crop is important in the diet.WeatherWinter climate favors these crops. Generally 15 to 20 degrees Celsius is conducive to temperature rise. As cauliflower varieties are more sensitive to temperature, they should be selected according to their climatic needs.LandRetad to medium black low lying land is suitable for cultivation of this crop. The soil surface should be between 5.5 and 6.6.Pre-cultivationThe land should be plowed vertically and horizontally and the land should be cleared by breaking the lumps. Apply 20 to 30 tons of manure per hectare in the soil. According to the cultivation of early and late varieties of these vegetables, the soil should be leveled at 45 cm and 60 cm intervals respectively. Cabbage is also grown on flat paddy. For this, steam should be prepared at a suitable distance according to the slope of the land.Planting season -These crops are planted in the months of September, October.Seed rateIt takes 0.600 to 0.750 kg seed per hectare. Before sowing, seeds should be immersed in hot water at 50 से C for half an hour or in 100 ppm solution of streptocycline for 2 hours. And then dry the seeds in the shade.PlantingSeedlings of this crop form on mattress pads. Draw a line at a distance of 12 to 15 cm parallel to the width of the wafer and sow the seeds thinly and cover the seeds with soil.Water the weeds till the seeds germinate. Seedlings are ready for planting in 4 to 5 weeks after sowing. Apply Sari Varambe or Wafe before planting. For early arrival varieties should be planted at 45 by 45 cm and for late arrival varieties at 45 by 60 cm or 60 by 60 cm spacing. Before transplanting the seedlings should be immersed in this solution by adding 36 EC monocrotophos in 10 liters of water.Fertilizer and water managementCabbage crop should be given 80 kg N, 80 kg P and 80 kg K before planting and a second installment of 80 kg N should be given 1 month after planting. Also give 75 kg N, 75 kg S and 75 kg K for cauliflower. Apply second installment of 75 kg N 1 month after planting.Adequate moisture will remain on the third day after planting and later. At such a distance, we should look at the soil and follow the water. Cabbage and cauliflower should be watered abundantly from the time the seedlings start to grow and then lightly water.IntercroppingThe field should be weeded with 2 to 3 hoes. When weeding, the soil should be supported with the buds of the seedlings so that the seedlings do not crumble and the seedlings grow well. Cover the inner leaves of the cauliflower for 1 week before harvesting to prepare the white cauliflower cauliflower. This avoids the damage caused by sunlight.Kids and diseasesCabbage vegetables are infested with various insects such as caterpillar larvae, cabbage butterflies, as well as black leg, club root, gonorrhea, seedling blight, leaf spot. For infestation of insects, spray the seedlings from nursery to infected vegetables by mixing Endosulfan 35 cc 290 ml or Phosphomidon 85 WUSC 60 ml or Malathion 50 cc 250 ml in 250 liters of water per hectare. For joint control of pests and diseases, spray Malathion 50 cc 500 ml plus copper oxychloride 50 WUP 1050 gm or Dithem M45 in 500 liters of water. 2 to 3 sprays of the above insecticides should be done at intervals of 10 to 12 days.Harvesting and productionDepending on the variety, cabbage is ready in 2-5 months. The finished batter is firm in the hand. If left unmanaged, they can be left astray and lose the right path. Therefore, it should be removed on time. Cauliflower should be removed before it turns yellow.
